RACHEL BUDD

Standing in front of my canvas I am both creator and witness; I am the master of the realm , at times I control , at times I merely witness the unfolding story.

I never like to impose too much discipline when handling the paint for I know that to tap into a richer layer of personal expression demands that I take a back seat.

The formal training of my early career prompted analysis and scrutiny of life drawing and still lives this rigorous approach now serves as the unseen background allowing the exhilaration of expression to reign supreme.

Let all the expressive arts come to mind when viewing my work; the poetry of colour, the lyrical passages formed with paint, the dancing rhythms of brush strokes and let the viewer enter into a world that encourages a personal journey, pausing for a moment to recall glimpses of nature, only to be swept up in an ever changing sensory experience.
