CIRCLE’s distinct style is shaped by a tribe of artists and artisans who live and work in country and coastal places – in short, nature. We are a principled gallery that show paintings, prints, sculpture and fine crafts which are imbued with the integrity of the maker.
Now in its sixth year, CIRCLE is an established contemporary art space run on two floors with a bright and informal coastal vibe.
Gallery Directors Lucy Thorman and artist John O’Carroll have an eclectic approach to sourcing and presenting artists from the UK, Europe and further afield. Strong personal style and excellent craftsmanship are prerequisite as well as showing artists whose work stems directly from the living landscape.
Artists are represented by two categories: CIRCLE Core and CIRCLE Guest. New works by Circle’s core group are rotated throughout the year with a bi-monthly solo focus on guest artists, focusing on fresh and innovative art.
Our core group is continually expanding and evolving. Each of our artists roughly falls into one of three categories: The landscape of pleasure, the material landscape, and the human landscape.
Art that awakens the senses. Abstract or figurative painting and printmaking which seduces with design and colour
land artists, sculptors and craftspeople working with organic materials and textiles: artists who literally use the natural environment for inspiration and making
Artists who create factual and poetically erudite works which present to the viewer the memory of, or actual human presence in the world.
