Overview
Marina Nimmo is a multifaceted artist whose creative journey spans over two decades, during which she has seamlessly navigated between sculpture, painting, printmaking, and installation. Her dynamic engagement with these diverse mediums has been honed through her extensive experience as both an artist and a Fine Art teacher.

A pivotal moment in her career occurred in 2017, when she graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. This milestone prompted her to leave teaching and devote herself entirely to her own artistic practice. Currently residing in rural France, Marina's work has undergone a profound transformation, influenced by her transition from the structured rhythms of city life to the organic cycles of the natural world.

The changing seasons, rivers, tides, and their continuous flux have become the central forces in her creative process.

Marina's art begins with spontaneous, energetic drawings, which serve as the foundation for her explorative process. These sketches evolve into complex 3D forms that embody the movement and flow she observes in nature. Her sculptures capture the delicate relationship between the natural world and the materiality of earth, focusing on the interplay between fragility and strength.

Her sculptures often begin as seemingly heavy and crude structures, but through a labor-intensive refinement process, they are transformed into delicate, sensual shapes. Each piece is hand-built and meticulously refined once it reaches the leather-dry stage, showcasing her technical skill and deep commitment to her craft. This rigorous manipulation of material reflects Marina's sensitivity to the pressing environmental changes, as she uses her art to bring attention to the fragility of the natural world.

The resulting works captivate the viewer with their fragile beauty, inviting contemplation on the vulnerability of our environment and the interconnectedness of all living things. Marina Nimmo's sculptures are not just aesthetic objects; they are poignant reminders of the delicate balance between nature and humanity.
