Joe Morris works with tadelakt, a traditional lime plaster with origins in Moroccan architecture, transforming it into luminous, sculptural surfaces. His process is slow and tactile — pigments are blended by hand, shapes are carved directly into the plaster, and natural fissures emerge as the material dries. These are not flaws, but part of the language of the work: time made visible.
Based in North Cornwall, Morris works from his studio surrounded by ancient Cornish stone circles — a landscape that continues to shape his practice. His abstract forms draw on sacred geometry, ancient British landscapes, and the quiet symbolism of the circle. Influenced by Neolithic monuments and the elemental forces that shape the land, Morris creates objects that feel at once contemporary and ancient — still, silent and resonant.
Rooted in nature and refined through ritual, his work invites reflection. It speaks to memory, to presence, and to the deep universal rhythms that endure beneath the surface of things.
CIRCLE are delighted to show Joe’s work as part of their core group of artists. Commissions or murals are welcome — offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with the artist on a bespoke piece with a specific interior or architectural setting in mind. A tadelakt mural can be applied a suitable interior or external wall — with almost no limit to size, colour, or design.
