Lori-Ann Bellissimo is a Canadian-Italian contemporary abstract painter based in Cornwall, UK. Her practice is known for large-scale circular works and architectural commissions that explore light, space, depth and materiality.
Working at the intersection of painting, sculpture and contemporary industrial process, Bellissimo creates meditative surfaces that appear to hold both physical weight and atmospheric openness. Using optically clear resin, pigment and mixed media, she builds her works through a precise layering process, suspending colour and mark within luminous strata. The result is a sense of visual depth that shifts as the viewer moves around the piece, allowing light, shadow and reflection to become part of the work itself.
Her circular forms suggest celestial bodies, portals and quiet voids, inviting a slower, more contemplative way of looking. Through a reduced visual language, Bellissimo explores the tension between surface and space, control and chance, the material and the unseen.
Her work is held in international collections, including The William Vale, New York City; Bellagio, Las Vegas; and Barclays Bank, Singapore.
